Fantastic Coop - definitely worth investing in
Kasia, VIC,
I have tried home made wooden coops, Rubbermaid plastic type large shed just like on you tube which I modified to suit and a metal walk in shed. It took me 2 years to finally decide to buy the Eglu. By far, this Eglu Cube Mk 2 (no run, no wheels) has been the best coop so far. I've had it about 5 weeks now. I have 8 chickens (4 Australorps, 1 Isa Brown, 2 Hyline Browns, 1 Aurucana) The set up took a while (2 1/2 hours) and it helps to have 2 people but not impossible with one person. The only CON I found is in the set up. You have to take your time and be precise with screwing in the screws. I almost finished and got to my second last screw installing the square metal roof plate which joins the 2 roof panels together, when the screw burred and now it's stuck. Can't get screw out or further in. There are 4 screw holes in this roof plate, so I managed to get 3 screws in successfully and 1 quarter of the way in. I contacted Omlet Australia who contacted Omlet UK who said it was my user error burring the screw and that it won't affect the water seal or functionality of the coop. They said there is a thick rubber seal that sits between the 2 roof panels and as long as you have most of the screws in, it will still be ok. I did a water test and put a couple of buckets over the roof from the outside to check for leaks and surprisingly it is water tight. Whilst I'm not happy about having a burred screw, there is nothing I can do about it. So please take your time to line up your panels and screws before you screw them in and go slow and gentle. Other than the small hiccup with my burred screw during set up, everything about this coop is amazing. It is very easy and quick to clean, the poo just drops down through the slats no problem, I haven't found it to get stuck on the slats. The chickens look comfortable sitting on the slats. The nest area is great, enough room for 3 chickens at a time and I have seen 3 in there comfortably. I haven't had to use the sliding nest door as my chickens don't sleep in the nest luckily but it's good that there is a door if needed. I was worried there would't be enough room for all my chickens inside as they are all full size and the inside area does look small, but all 8 chickens sleep comfortably inside huddled together for warmth and there is still room for 2 more chickens which would be squishy but still enough room for them to turn or move around to get comfortable, but I wouldn't put any more than 10. I'm actually very surprised for the size that it is actually enough room. The ladder is great and the chickens haven't had problems going up/down, even my Aurucana who has deformed feet has no problem using the ladder. The functionality and use of this coop is very user friendly. Checking for eggs is so easy and removing the poo tray or the back panel is easy too and makes cleaning a breeze. I just hose it down and if it's cold I'll wipe it dry, otherwise leave to air dry before putting tray back in. My chickens took about 1 day to get used to going into it. I did have to put them inside myself the first night, but I think that would be for any coop. After that they took to it no problem. They seem to be very happy and comfortable. I think it's warm enough in the colder weather and I sometimes close the door when it gets windy at night. The main door is easy to open/close. I'll be waiting to see how the Cube performs in hot weather but I think there is enough ventilation in there. Siting it in the shade during hot weather will help. Overall, I am very very satisfied with the Cube and the customer service and think it's money well spent even though it cost me $919 (including delivery NSW to Melbourne VIC) It was delivered overnight which I was impressed with. This Cube could just win on the fact of how super easy it is to maintain and clean as cleaning the coop is the main and most important and frustrating part of keeping chickens.

Fantastic!
Mark, New South Wales,
We have been procrastinating on having chickens for years, and on finally making the decision to extend our family with 6 chickens, we got the Eglu Cube. We are now 2 weeks in and are extremely happy. Our chickens are only 6 weeks old, and already have organised themselves nicely. They put themselves to bed at night, climbing up the ladder at sunset, and we can easily close the door and "tuck them in". Cleaning has also been a breeze. The thing I like the most is that we have moved the Cube a few times already to different parts of the yard, so the girls get access to different parts of the garden when we cant be there, and no one spot will end up completely bare of grass. Thank you for such a wonderful product. We are looking forward to the next few months as they grow, and to our first eggs.

Pleased so far
Nihad,
I've noticed there are no reviews for the new Cube, so here goes! For many years, we've happily used the Eglu Classic and Eglu Go, but decided it was time for an upgrade. Our new addition is far more spacious than the other 2, and being raised, will undoubtedly be easier on the back to clean and retrieve eggs. The Cube takes significantly longer to put together - but that only adds to the sense of accomplishment at the end! Instructions are generally quite good, and thankfully, a few extra screws, clips, etc are included. The build quality far exceeds that of the Eglu Go, but falls just short of the seemingly indestructible Eglu Classic. We've always had issues with hens sleeping in the laying area, so the sliding door preventing access at night is very welcome. And I can't describe how excited I am about the automatic door opener due out in spring! The height of the run is perfect for young children to walk around in - and even a determined adult if you mind your head (and feet at the threshold). I was disappointed to find no accessories specifically for the new Cube available at launch - namely, the various run covers and winter jacket. I've gone with run covers designed for the original Cube, which obviously work, but extend further down the sides than they would on the original. Overall though, we're very happy with the product. Just waiting for our new hens to move in, but I'm sure they'll agree.

My chickens live better than I do!
Mark,
Overall we are very happy with the Cube, which was an upgrade from our Go UP necessitated by a slight population explosion among our hens. The accommodation is cosy, secure and relatively easy to maintain. Positioning on flat ground appears to be important in order for the roof to fit properly and I my hens would appreciate something to cover the non-stick surface of the ladder runs but aside from that the chooks are very happy. Well recommended!

William,
First Class. The chicken are blooming and very happy in their new home. I did, however fit two tubes to the side with cable ties, extending to the front to make it easier to move. The ladder gave the chickens difficulty to start with so I but a bit of steel mesh on top of the ladder, again with cable ties and they have had no difficulty since.

Brilliant purchase for my first chickens
Jackie,
After a bit of a hiccup with our order, everything arrived with no problems. It took a couple of hours to put together for one person. My new chickens love their coop except for the ladder which I have had to modify with a wooden ramp. There is loads of room inside for 4 growing Brahmas. The run however is far too small for them and needs an extension (we are waiting for a walk in run). We have used the portable fencing during the day to give them a bigger area. Moving the coop is heavier than I expected and needs 2 people on our uneven ground. I feel confident that the coop keeps my birds safe and comfortable. There has been a problem with leakage in the back corners- I received a new back promptly when I phoned about this. The 2m run is hard to access through the door and would present a problem for someone not very agile. The coop itself is easy to clean and access the inside. I covered in the nest box entrance with card for a week to stop anyone making it their skeeping spot.My girls were a few weeks off laying and this has worked well. Overall I am very happy with my purchase, I think it is good value and will stand up to our Scottish winter weather,

Jane,
A good product on the whole. The run is pretty flimsy. I think the ladder could be a bit lower - quite a high jump for my elderly cockerel.

Safe, secure and cosy home!
Kate,
Having lost 10 hens to the local fox we decided to try the Eglu Cube with 2m run for better security. We have not been disappointed. The design is absolutely fantastic Omlet have thought of everything. Our new hens are safe and happy and I am delighted with the easy cleaning and locking up arrangements. The cube itself was very straightforward to assemble and looks great. The run was a little more fiddly but we got there in the end. A perfect home that will last forever!

Great in all but 2 wee problems
Williamson,
Brilliant hen house. However, the roosting bars are too low (hens always roost on highest point) so they tended to roose in nesting box - very messy. Husband had to make wooden perches to go on top of Eglu's. Also, the access ladder is slippery for them even in the dry. Suggestions for improvements.
